The fact they have done this might mean they’re quite comfortable with the thought of losing a large percentage of users… so it’s probably a wider picture thing to do with tube sites in general maybe… laughed at your “30 second fat guy tribute” though. To think this site has been running all these years with millions of amazing videos/ great profiles and a good community, to potentially killing all that.
